Worthing is Where it’s At

Worthing is Where it’s At

Firstly do you, or someone you know, grow mangolds/mangelwurzels in or around the Sussex area? If so, please get in touch! I’m in desperate need, otherwise my hands will reek of neeps for days…

Secondly, should you find yourself in the wonderful seaside town of Worthing on either Wednesday 14 October or Thursday 29 October and fancy a writing workshop and/or a talk on Halloween respectively, get yourself to Waterstones as I will be doing both!

Folklore Writing Workshop ~ Wednesday 14 October

This will be a repeat of the writing workshop I held in Horsham Waterstones back in the summer, but that’s not to say I won’t have had a fiddle with it. Come prepared with some WIP and an open mind and find out how our customs, traditions and the ritual year can help bring creativity, consistency and even a little bit of anarchy into your writing. And if there’s time at the end I’ll also demonstrate a couple of easy divinatory techniques to help you out of a writing rut.

To book your place either pop into Waterstones in Worthing or click on this link (which also has a much better description of the workshop!): https://www.waterstones.com/events/folklore-writing-workshop-with-liza-frank/worthing

Halloween Folklore – How to Survive Samhain and Have a Very Happy Halloween ~ Thursday 29 October

After a rather successful Beltane talk (even if I do say so myself), I’ve been asked back to spook the good people of Worthing with some Halloween folklore (dancing skeletons in Broadwater, you say?). Learn how to protect yourself from grumpy fairies, nefarious witches and imposing ancestors hell bent on coming to visit on Nut Crack Night. There will also be some folklore food, divinations and the odd Halloween game to get to grips with. Audience participation will be encouraged, as is dressing for the occasion!

To book your tickets, again either pop into Waterstones in Worthing or click on this link: https://www.waterstones.com/events/halloween-folklore-how-to-survive-samhain-and-have-a-very-happy-halloween-with-liza-frank/worthing

Hopefully see some of you there for at least one outing. But if Worthing is too far a distance, you can also tune in to BBC Radio Sussex on the morning of Friday 30 October as at some point I’ll be talking about frightening folklore there too.

BUT DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE MANGELWURZEL!
